Small Bird Taxidermy Service

Losing a pet is one of the hardest experiences to go through, but just because your pet is no longer alive doesn’t mean you can’t keep them around. Taxidermy is a great way to preserve your pet so you can keep them close to your heart. At Animal Family Advanced Pet Preservation, we’re happy to help you preserve your small bird so you can remember your pet for many years to come.

Preparing the Bird for Taxidermy

If you have a small bird you want to have preserved, you need to make sure it’s properly prepared before bringing it in for preservation. As soon as your pet passes away, you need to smooth the feathers back into the position they’re supposed to be in and tuck the head underneath one of the two wings. When you pick the bird up, make sure you’re not picking it up by its head or neck as this can cause damage.

After you have the bird properly prepared for taxidermy, you can place it into a ziplock freezer bag. It’s important to be gentle when you’re closing the bag, although you do want to squeeze out as much air as possible. Excess air in the bag can lead to faster decomposition of the body, which makes small bird taxidermy harder. The main focus is being gentle, so just make sure you don’t squeeze the bird too hard and damage it.

Storing the Bird for Taxidermy

Once you’ve got your bird prepared, you’ll need to store it somewhere safe until you can bring it in to have it preserved. You want to store your bird in a cool place where it isn’t exposed to direct sunlight, as sunlight and heat can cause damage to the body. Make sure you don’t put your bird in your game bag, as this can also cause damage to it.

Keep in mind that the better job you do of preparing and preserving your pet, the better our small bird taxidermy is going to look. Try to prepare the body store and your pet somewhere safe as soon as possible for the best results.
